PRIVATE CLIMBING OF THE CUPOLA AND DISCOVERING THE ENTIRE DUOMO COMPLEX

Learn all about Florence’s infamous Duomo, its record-breaking architecture and construction process, and find out what makes this landmark the centerpiece of Florence.

The tour starts with an introduction to the Duomo Square. Armed with a first overview of its religious buildings, we enter the Baptistery to take in the amazing golden mosaic that inspired Dante Alighieri’s famous Divine Comedy.

Did you know that the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is home to the largest painted surface in the world? Thanks to your local guide you learn about the secrets behind the Baptistery and Brunelleschi’s infamous cupola as you marvel at the 3,600 square meters of frescoes that grace its interior, two famous equestrian “monuments” as well as the Crypt of Santa Reparata.

The tour continues with a visit to the Opera del Duomo Museum, the largest museum of sacred art in the world with 6,000 square meters of masterpieces from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance — more than 700 works in marble, bronze and silver that are covering 720 years of history!

Last but not least, our tour brings you 330 feet high as we are climbing the 464 steps of Brunelleschi’s Cupola, skipping long lines and the risk to find the dome sold out! Not only do you walk in the original passages used by the masonry men who shaped the biggest and most famous dome in the world. From the highest point of view in town, you have a 360° view over Florence and all the way into the Chianti hills!
