We want you to experience all of Florence in all its glory. Led by a professional guide, you discover the city center and all its famous sites: the picturesque Cathedral along with Brunelleschi’s Dome and the Baptistery’s Gates of Paradise, Ponte Vecchio with its goldsmith shops, Piazza della Signoria with the impressive Palazzo Vecchio and the artistically rich Uffizi courtyard. With an abundance of statues, architectural wonders and Renaissance decorations, Florence is like an open-air museum.
Our tour starts along the Arno River that divides Florence into two equally fascinating parts and combining the two with a number of bridges, all of which allow for a different angle to capture and marvel at this cradle of the Renaissance.
We start our exploration at Piazza della Repubblica, the ancient “Roman castrum” from which Florence — the “city of flowers” — originated. Marveling at the Palazzo Strozzi, we get to witness a sumptuous example of Renaissance architecture before we dive into the world of designer shopping as we stroll down the famous Via Tornabuoni.
Ponte Santa Trinita, our path to cross the Arno River, allows for wonderful photos that let you remember Florence in all its beauty. Did you know that Lonely Planet calls the Oltrarno districts one of the coolest places in the world? Wandering through the streets of the Oltrarno and the Santo Spirit district, past artisan workshops, vintage and antiquarian shops, we make sure you find out why!
Our tour then takes us to Pitti Palace, the residence of Florence’s famous Medici family and later the King of Italy. Following the Vasarian Corridor, we cross Ponte Vecchio and follow the passageway towards the Uffizi courtyard. Boosted after a coffee break in a historical place of Florence, we arrive in the Piazza della Signoria to admire Cellini’s “Perseus,” Gianbologna’s “The Rape of the Sabine,” The Neptune Fountain and the imposing Palazzo Vecchio.
We walk on to marvel at the church of Santa Croce, the final resting place of Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei and other illustrious Italians. Strolling through Dante Alighieri’s district towards Piazza del Duomo, we come face to face with the mighty Dome of Florence’s cathedral, discovering the incredible story of Brunelleschi and his ambitious plan to crown a cathedral that had been left open to the elements for 100 years. Impressive all-around, you learn a new way to examine Giotto’s Bell Tower and admire the magnificent Baptistery with its Gates of Paradise.
