OLTRARNO TOUR - ART & CRAFTS

Lonely Planet calls the Oltrarno district one of the “coolest neighborhoods” on Earth — join us in finding out why!

The Oltrarno district is hip and cool, but also packed with history. Without further ado, let’s hop south of the Arno River to experience the soul of Florence and learn about the “initiators of the Renaissance”, Brunelleschi and Masaccio

Florence — the famous “Cradle of the Renaissance” — has made a name for itself thanks to the rich blend of its vibrant society, which saw a fusion of artists, merchants, humanists, and scientists. As we follow their footsteps and traces through the Oltrarno, we come across masterpieces of paintings and architecture mixed with the vibrant display of contemporary arts & craft.

For an authentic immersion in culture and art, our stops along the way include:
  • SILK MANUFACTURING - One of the last workshops for silk manufacturing in the world that still uses a warping machine designed by Leonardo da Vinci (Due Covid-19 this venue could be submitted to restrictions)
  • SCULPTURE STUDIO - An authentic sculpture studio where the same family has been sculpting for two centuries;
  • THE BRANCACCI CHAPEL - A real jewel that let’s you admire the frescoes documenting the transition from Gothic to Renaissance;
  • SANTO SPIRITO CHURCH - A masterpiece by Filippo Brunelleschi, the founding father of the Renaissance;
  • A MARBLING PAPER DEMONSTRATION - An ancient technique of the Middle Ages that continues to fascinate craft lovers.
